Milestones

•  1984

Vestel Electronics joint Stock Company was founded in Manisa by Polly Peck, an international public company, to produce electronic tools.

•  1986

Vestel Durable Consumables Marketing Joint Stock Company was established in Istanbul to carry out local marketing activities for Vestel products.

•  1987

Veskom Computer Communication Joint Stock Company was established in Istanbul to carry out activities in the areas of information technology and communication.

•  1988

In March, Vestel Electronics produced the first colour television, which was designed completely by Turkish engineers. Design and production of the first local monitor were also performed.

•  1989

TELKOM Electronic Communication Equipment Production and Trading Joint Stock Company, a successor of a company established in 1976 in Izmir, one of the most important exportation centres of Turkiye , dealing with production of TV tuners and remote control systems, joined the Vestel Group.

As a first step in white goods, service/sales organisation started with importation of goods.

1990

Vestel Foreign Trading Joint Stock Company was established in Manisa to carry out foreign marketing activities of the companies affiliated to Vestel Group of Companies.

VESCOLOR Tube and Components Industry and Trading Joint Stock Company was established to produce colour tubes. It currently has no activity.

At the end of the year, as a consequence of the crisis in Polly Peck, the management was committed to trustees.

•  1991

Production of white goods, washing machines, dishwashers, microwave ovens and mini electric ovens gathered under the structure of Vestel Goldstar Industry and Trading Joint Stock Company.

•  1992

In May, the title of Vestel Goldstar Joint Stock Company was changed into Pekel Technical Industry and Trading Joint Stock Company , and a partnerships established with Merloni Spa and PHILCO Italia.

•  1994

November was the beginning of a new era for Vestel. Zorlu Holding Company, a leading company in Turkish textile industry, took over Colar Holding Company, which owned 82% of the shares of Vestel.

•  1995

This was the year in which Vestel was reorganised and new developments were made. In December, Vestel transferred all shares of Pekel, manufacturer of white goods, to Merloni group.

•  1996

Vestel, with its trademark Vestel White, put on the local market white goods, refrigerators, washing machines, dishwashers and air conditioners, and established new service organisations.

The name of Veskom Computer Communication Joint Stock Company was changed as Vestel Information Technologies Trading and Industry Joint Stock Company.

Telkom added satellite receivers to its product line, and the name of the company, following purchase of all shares by Vestel, was changed to Vestelkom Joint Stock Company

Project works were initiated for production of computers and components, and production of monitors started.

In consequence of the agreement made with Black & Decker, small household appliances were put on the market.

Production of television realised as 1,000,044 pieces.

•  1997

VestelNet, a new company, investing in the highest quality ISDN technology¬ was established in order to develop telecommunication infrastructure of Zorlu Group; and within a short while, a new telephone exchange building was given as a gift to Turk Telecom Joint Stock Company , the national communication company.

Following the Group’s successful break into the Turkish market in 19996 with Vestel White line, Vestel White Goods was established in 1997 as the Group’s first investment project in the white goods sector.

Vestel Electronics, with its production rate of 2,300,000 colour televisions, met the demand of 7.5 % of the European colour television market, and 32 % of the Turkish market. This rapid development, helped the Company to combine the latest technological innovations in its production methods and re-arrange its production capacity to meet the demands of its international customers.

Vestel Electronics was rated among the top ten Turkish companies with a turnover rate of USD  516 m.

Vestelkom was rated among the top four European television tuner manufacturers.

Vestel Foreign Trading Joint Stock Company was rated among the top five Turkish exporters with a revenue of USD  225 m.

In Turkiye , until the end of 1997, Vestel continued its place as the first manufacturer of 100 Hz televisions and the only manufacturer of 16.9 inch, 33 inch, Dolby S.P. and digital televisions.

•  1998

Vestel increased its annual production of televisions to 4,000,000 units and computer (PC) screen production to 1,000,000 units.

Vestel put into the market the first internet televisions in Turkiye and became one of the global leaders in this market.

Vestel established Vestel-USA, the first global company with headquarters at Silicon Valley in California, the USA, funded completely with Turkish capital, and began supplying worldwide services in the information technology sector. It is the only company providing flexible, easy-to-use Internet based software solutions in Northern America home and commercial markets.

Vestel does not only follow manufactured, ready technologies, it also produces its own technology. Therefore, in addition to the facilities in Manisa, Vestel has established new R&D centres both in the Silicon Valley - the USA, which is considered as the centre of technology, and in Taiwan, a county where technology develops the fastest.

Vestel established cooperation with the major companies of the software sector, e.g. Microsoft, Sun Microsystems, En Reach Techonology, Spyglass and Integrated Systems and with the major companies of the hardware sector, e.g. Intel, Teralogic, Information Graphics Inc., Cyrix and Gemplus. Vestel currently continues R&D and design works with these companies.

Vestel Visecon was established with a strong management view and enthusiastic, dynamic consultant team, which has extensive experience implementing SAP in major projects within the Zorlu Holding Group of Companies. The objective of Vestel Visecon is to focus on business performance improvement through Enterprise Resource Planning, Supply Chain Management and other related products and services. Company started its projects in the second half of 1997 with a core team, and within a period of four months, it has completed the projects of Vestel Marketing, Vestel Informatics and Zorlu Linen projects, and five SAP/R3 modules were implemented to HR, FI, CO, MM, SD. In the first quarter of 1998, Vestel Electronics project has been initiated and FI, MM, SD, CO, PP and HR modules were implemented in 8 months.

Dexar Multimedia and Telecommunications Joint Stock Company  was established in the early 1998 to provide service in communication technologies; it was established to introduce in our country digital technologies, which are considered an indispensable part of the everyday life in developed countries, and within this context to prepare the infrastructure for “digital data, sound and video transmission via satellites” and to provide services in this field to its individual and corporate customers. To this end, the Company has cooperated within the scope of technological alliances with Huges Network Systems  (HNS) - the USA and Raytheon Training Joint Stock Company , which are world leaders in hardware and software technologies in the field of communication through satellites.

•  1999

Dexar was the first company which signed “Turksat Digital Satellite Platform” service agreement with Türk Telecom Joint Stock Company  on 5 March, 1999.

Vestel started production of white goods.

Started in June, the VeezyGo Campaign has reached a sales quantity of 80,000 in 2 months and broke new ground, and it was taken as a role model for this campaign by many companies.

Vestel White Goods, which started production in June 1999 with refrigerators and air conditioners in the beginning, continues production of white goods in 66 countries, mainly in England, France, Germany and Spain, with 127 trademarks under ODM. Vestel White Goods has production facilities with an annual capacity of 1.5 million refrigerators and 300,000 split type air conditioners, and with the new plant to start up in September 2003, 1 million washing machines, and it has an exportation rate amounting to 77 percent of the total production.

•  2000

Vestel, which proofed its achievements not only in the local market but also in the international markets with exports amounting to USD 548 million performed in 2000, provides employment to thousands of people and a great export potential for its native country through its investments made worldwide.

•  2002


Based on the results of 2002, Vestel Electronics holds 24 % of television sales in the local market of Turkiye , and 53 % of TV exports made from Turkiye . Besides, its market share is 53 % in Europe. Vestel Electronics, which started manufacturing in its facilities products of the world  electronic leaders, such as JVC, Hitachi and Toshiba, targets to reach a production rate of 7 million TVs and a sales turnover of 1 billion EUR.

•  2003

The Group’s year-end target for 2003 is to raise its exports above EUR 1.3 billion, and once again to take place among the first ranks in the list of Turkiye ’s Export Leaders.

•  2005

Vestel Group of Companies plans to make exports amounting to 6 billion dollars until the end of 2005 and to become the company with the highest exportation rate of Turkiye in the future as well.

Vestel, in line with the importance it attaches to following the developments worldwide rapidly and in its location, has made R&D investments not only in Turkiye , but in 5 locations worldwide: England, United States, Hong Kong, Manisa and Izmir. These investments represent the passion of Vestel, the company which produces its own technology, to manufacture products for the people all over the world which are even above the highest international quality levels.

Vestel, which was the pioneer of many innovations in television production in Turkiye , now proudly puts on the market the first 100 Hz TV, 84 inch TV, 16:9 cinema format TV, Flat TV w/ DVD, Recordable Replay TV, Dolby Surround Prologic System TV, Digital TV, Internet TV, TFT TV and Plasma TV.

All products manufactured in the facilities of Vestel Electronics, Vestelkom and Vestel White Goods are marketed abroad by Vestel Foreign Trading, and locally by Vestel Marketing, which is another company of the Group.

Vestel Marketing carries out its activities through its four regional directorates and nine sales directorates organised according to the geographical and economical characteristics of Turkiye . The company also has 1500 active vendors in every part of Turkiye , out of which 350 are showroom type and 300 exclusive type, and more then 600 after sales service points, where not only Vestel trademarks but also JVC, Regal and Moulinex trademark products are sold to customers.

All these investments represent the passion of Vestel, the company which produces its own technology, to manufacture products for the people all over the world which are even above the highest international quality levels.

Vestel offers a diverse line of products meeting the demands of its customers, and also submits quality in products and service through its widespread vendors network and systematic customer services.
